Portugal Invests in Climate Refuges and Environmental Resilience

Portugal committed €210,000 through three funding contracts announced on 15 October to develop climate refuges in Lisbon, Trancoso and Praia de Mira. The projects include green spaces, shaded areas, drinking water and other measures designed to help communities cope with high temperatures. Environmental organisations, municipalities and infrastructure developers require climate-risk assessments, environmental monitoring and sustainability-planning systems.
